Resolutions That Celebrities Should Make in 2010

What Celebrities Should Make Resolutions in 2010

We all make resolutions for the new year, but do you ever wish you could tell someone what you think their resolutions out to be? Do they have some trait that drives you crazy, and you’d love to see them try and correct it? Even if we can’t say things like that to our friends, we CAN give celebrities a list of changes we’d like to see them make this New Year.

Female Celebrity Resolutions

Instead of making a promise to lose more weight, there are a few female celebrities that should actually gain a little bit of weight! Why not put down the caffeine loaded coffee, and grab a sandwich? I’m looking at you, Angelina! Texting while driving may be another resolution that needs to be made! Each year it seems that we see a celebrity like Lindsay Lohan getting into another fender bender, with phone in hand! Ladies in Hollywood might also want to try and break that plastic surgery addiction. Everyone from Janet Jackson to Donatella Versace has had ‘work done’. Girls today are actually trying to go for a more natural look and it’s a shame that people can’t love the person they are.

We’re not ignoring the reality TV celebrities, either. Pretty much all reality TV divas should resolve to take therapy sessions at least once a week, and maybe more if they’re appearing on MTV.

Male Celeb Resolutions

The divorce and break-up rate continues to rise in Hollywood, and we have to wonder what male celebs are doing? There have been several cheating scandals over the recent years, as well as some shocking break-ups. Perhaps a few resolutions need to be made by some of the leading men in Hollywood in terms of staying with the same woman for more than a year or two. Even the reality celebs from the dating reality shows need to give it a rest! Jude Law is just one offender on this list. Tiger Woods needs to watch out, too.

Guys need to stay out of rehab as well. We have seen a few deaths due to overdoses, and a few surprising rehab check ins this year. We do know that most celebrities love to party, yet we still seem to see the same start actors going in and out of the revolving doors of rehab. Robert Downey Jr., are you listening? While there will always be celebrity gossip, over the year 2010 we will probably see no shortage of drunk videos, scandals on the covers of tabloids, and actresses who are withering away. Of course, we can always look at celebrities, and simply use them as a tool for what not to do in life. Think about celebrity resolutions as the new year approaches and pick some resolutions that you might like to make for yourself. Any form of self improvement over the next year can help keep you from being like the people on this list.

While many stars use their fame to help others, their flaws are magnified because they’re in the public eye. Some celebrities act out because they know they’ll get away with it. We definitely don’t condone that kind of behavior!

Michael Jackson Thriller Moves Immortalized

Michael Jackson Music Video Added to National Register

The music video for Michael Jackson’s Thriller has been added to a national register in the US, which called the mini movie a cultural treasure.

Filmed in 1983, the 14-minute horror-themed video sees Jackson perform a dance routine with a group of zombies after going on a date and turning into a zombie himself.

Directed by John Landis, the movie was described by the Library of Congress as a “lavish production” that “revolutionized the music industry”.

Jackson was well known for filming lengthy music videos and once adopted the guise of an elderly white man for a dance routine in the video for Ghosts from the star’s Blood on the Dance Floor album.

The Library of Congress has added 25 films to the register every year since 1989 and the 2009 additions include movies ranging from 1911 to 1995.

Dog Day Afternoon, Directed by Sidney Lumet in 1975, William Wellman’s The Story of G.I. Joe from 1945 and James Frawley’s 1979 version of The Muppet Movie were also included on this year’s list.

Illegal Music Downloads Statistics Alarming

Illegal Downloaders Spend More on Music

People who admit to illegally downloading music spend more money on legitimate purchases than others a new study has found.

Those who obtained files through illegal means, like Pirate Bay and Lime wire, were also found to spend £77 ($126) per year on cds, vinyl and legitimate mp3 files.

By comparison, only £44 was spent by those who said they only purchase music through official means.

Over 1,000 people aged 16 to 50 were questioned for the poll, commissioned by UK research firm Demos.

Almost one in ten of those asked admitted to stealing music files.

However, nearly 80 per cent of that group also claimed to spend money buying their favourite releases.

The poll showed although music fans were still purchasing physical music recordings, the digital age is well and truly upon us.

Half of the people questioned said they now listen to music through video-sharing website YouTube, while 22 per cent listen to internet radio stations.

Spotify , a site that allows users to legally stream music from thousands of artists, was found to only be used by around nine per cent of those asked.

The poll comes in advance of proposed digital economy legislation in the UK which could see illegal file sharers disconnected from the internet.

The Biggest Celebrity Mistakes of 2009

2009 is not over yet, but the behavior of some American celebrities has given us all plenty to laugh and gasp at. These are the antics that just made you shake your head – these are the top celebrity gaffes of 2009.

2009 Celebrity Mistakes

• Joaquin Phoenix, the Academy Award Nominated Actor who portrayed Johnny Cash in I Walk the Line, told the world in January that he was serious about pursuing a rap career. Videos of bizarre performances, as well as even more bizarre appearances on talk shows, including the by now notorious Letterman Show interview where Phoenix’s disheveled appearance and unsteady demeanor, shocked many.

However, it may be just a prank, a scheme concocted with fellow actor and filmmaker, Casey Affleck. If it is a joke, it is one many of Phoenix’s fans just don’t get.

Jessica Alba amused historians worldwide when she cautioned a reporter to “Be Sweden… Be neutral.” When people corrected her all over the blogosphere, suggesting that perhaps she meant “Switzerland,” Alba made things worse by posting a video that explained Sweden’s neutrality in recent conflicts.

• On March 23, King of Pranks Ashton Kutcher put online a picture of his wife, Demi Moore, in a less than flattering shot while clad only in her underwear. While Demi Moore took the picture in stride, the resulting traffic caused a Twitter meltdown. Those who regularly use the site reported the microblogging site slowed to a crawl for hours.

• In May, Kieffer Sutherland was arrested for head-butting fashion designer Jack McCollough at a New York event. Sutherland said McCollough physically bumped into Brooke Shields and that he was defending the actress. The New York District Attorney decided not to press charges.

When Taylor Swift won the Best Female Video VMA on September 13, the last thing she or anyone else expected was for Kanye West to hijack her first acceptance speech ever. Snatching the microphone away from the stunned singer, West announced that Beyonce Knowles should have won the award, causing the audience in attendance to boo at him. Later, Beyonce brought Swift back out in order to deliver her acceptance speech but the cat was out of the bag. Within hours, macros and spoofs of West’s behavior were all over the Internet and even the President condemned him as foolish.

• On September 23, Fox commentator Glenn Beck helped out those who insinuate he may not be playing with a full deck by tossing a live frog into a pot of boiling water on live television. He later revealed that he did not, in fact, kill a frog and those who work on the show backed his story, but even right wing sites that generally applaud Beck, found the whole idea distasteful.

• In late September, Randy Quaid and his wife were arrested in Texas for skipping out on a $10,000 hotel bill in California. Both were released on bail.

• In late September, early October, a blackmailer forced David Letterman to reveal he had engaged in the sort of sexual behavior on the job that he has made a career of mocking. His late night rivals made him the butt of on-the-job sexual jokes and pundits are still discussing whether or not his behavior constituted sexual harassment and infidelity towards his long-time girlfriend, now wife.
