Improving looks is more important to most women than furthering their career or finding their perfect partner, new research has suggested.
A study by the Good Surgeon Guide found that more women plan on changing their appearance in 2010 than any other new year's resolution.
According to the survey, 48 per cent of women claim looking good in 2010 was more important to them than earning a promotion at work or finding a partner.
Of the women who are looking to improve their looks 51 per cent said that they hope to achieve the desired effect with surgery or an aesthetic treatment of some kind.
One third said they plan to get in shape by improving their diet, while 17 per cent said they would simply make a bigger effort to look nicer.
The second most popular resolution was to achieve a career boost with 21 per cent of women saying this was their goal for 2010.
Just 19 per cent said finding true love was their biggest priority.
According to the report, women are not really concerned with making health improvements with only 12 per cent of the respondents saying they want to be healthier in 2010.
Christiana Clogg, co-founder of the guide, said: "Looking and feeling good is important to most women and, whilst we were aware that many consider surgery or an aesthetic procedure to improve their appearance, we were very surprised that it was more important to some than a more successful career or finding someone special."
