Clint Eastwood Named as America’s Favorite Actor
Clint Eastwood has beaten off strong competition from a host of A-listers to be named America’s favorite movie star.
The actor, who has won five Oscars so far in his career, topped the annual Harris poll, ending Denzel Washington’s three-year run in the number one position.
Other big-names making up the top ten include Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, George Clooney and John Wayne.
Meanwhile, Sandra Bullock was the highest-polling female actor, coming fourth overall, while Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep also sneaked into the top ten.
However, this latest poll also found that Harrison Ford, Will Smith or Angelina Jolie don’t boast the enduring appeal of John Wayne.
While the three Hollywood stars dropped out of the top ten on the back of relatively quiet years in terms of movie production, the Duke kept up his record of appearing in every single list since Harris started polling American movie-goers back in 1994.
Eastwood, who is 79, enjoyed his most recent Oscars success 2005, when he took home the Best Picture and Best Director awards for Million Dollar Baby.
